Jesus Is The Reason For The Season

The last holiday of this year is Christmas. This season is so commercialized by the world that we tend to forget its true meaning. It’s not just about exchanging gifts, although Wise Men did come bringing gifts to Jesus; they brought gifts knowing that he was the savior of the world.

Christmas is about celebrating the birth of the Messiah Jesus, and the fulfillment of the promise that he would save the world from their sins. The perfect human was to be born to the Virgin Mary. This was prophesized by Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel.”(KJV) Emmanuel meaning God with us is a title indicating the deity of Jesus. Together the names Emmanuel and Jesus gives us a complete picture that God himself was to dwell among his people in the person of Jesus, his son.

The importance of the birth of Christ cannot be stressed enough. Since man had become influenced by sin we needed a way out and Jesus provided that way. He was and still is the only pure and holy sacrifice needed to repay our sins. We must never forget that Jesus was much more than just a man. He is God and deserves our highest respect and praise. So in this Christmas season let’s forget about all of the shopping and all of the hoopla that goes along with this holiday. Let’s just focus on Christ, who died for you and me that through him we have eternal life. That’s how much God loved the sinful mankind…Giving up the best of heaven, his only begotten son.

If God is doing a special work in your life and you cooperate with him in obedience, you will know a great satisfaction in being used to further his work. Amen.
