What is your Assignment?

By Min. Raymond E. Williams, Jr.

“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea. And saying, Repent ye: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”  Matt. 3:1-2

A voice crying in the wilderness known as John the Baptizer spoke not for himself but for God. Not because it was politically correct, not because he would gain the attention and the praise of men. John said what was right and what was of God, because that was his assignment.

Sometimes the cares of this world (jobs, bills, family, etc.) overshadow our assignments. We fail sometimes to say the things of God, because it may threaten our well being or we may not get the attention and the praise of men. However, God needs more voices crying in the wilderness. God needs more voices crying out in righteous indignation when man oversteps the boundaries that God has setup for us in His Ten Commandments; Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not…..

The Ten Commandments are still Gods’ Law. It is still the foundation on which all law and the constitution of this country were framed. Many years ago we were able to see that Gods’ Law wasn’t being adhere to in our nation when the bill ‘Roe vs. Wade,’ was introduced into Congress, but not enough of us cried out in righteous indignation, we were complacent thinking that things would right themselves, ‘by and by.’ We watched as; Homosexual men and women paraded themselves before us, we laughed and said; ‘it’ll go away, by and by.’ We watch the children of our neighbors and friends die at the hands of those who are in authority over us and we say; ‘things will get better, by and by.’

Things haven’t gotten any better, things have not righted themselves and nothing has gone away. Why aren’t there more ‘voices crying out in the wilderness?’ Where are the ‘righteous’ and why aren’t they saying anything? Has God stopped giving out assignments? †
